Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Crankshaft Seal on 2006 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: You should start by removing the negative cable from the battery and cutting off the accessory drive belt. Take out the upper radiator hose and then undo all the shroud attachments. After that, take out the radiator cooling fan and its shroud and remove the crankshaft damper bolt. Take out the damper using Special Tools 8513A Insert and 1023 Three Jaw Puller and afterward, get the crankshaft front seal with Special Tool 9071. Before installing it, ruin sure that no lubricant is smeared on the outer edge or sealing lip of the front crankshaft seal. Before you put in the vibration damper, use Special Tool 9072 and 8512A to affix the crankshaft front seal after cleaning the damper bore and crankshaft nose to preserve their quality. After that, connected the shroud and radiator cooling fan and then put on the upper radiator hose and accessory drive belt. Top up the cooling system and make sure the negative cable is back on the battery.
