It is important to place the car on a hoist at a neutral gear to work or repair the front propeller shaft. Create a line at the same height on both companions and on the prop shaft to verify the position. If the car has the needed feature, open the boot holding the propeller shaft yoke with a clamp. When working on 4 x 2 manual transmission vehicles, pull out the transmission companion flange bolts and the pinion companion flange bolts first, before removing the propeller shaft. At installation, gently slide the slip yoke onto the output shaft of your transmission/transfer case. Install all the transmission flange bolts on a 4 x 2 vehicle and tighten them to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). Put the reference lines onto the same sides on the companion flanges and the propeller shaft, then fasten the bolts with a torque of 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). When you have a clamp installer, install and secure the clamps on the dust boot with it.
