How to Maintain a Thermostat on 2006 Jeep Liberty?

To service the thermostat, make sure the radiator draincock is fastened against burns. Empty the coolant in a clean container. Install the appropriate thermostat, disconnect the battery and empty the cooling system. Install and remove the thermostat, with correct position and torque. Re-fit together and test leakage.
