2006 Jeep Wrangler Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Light Switch on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before fixing or repairing the brake light switch, first take off the steering column cover and the panel beneath it. Put the brake pedal all the way to the floor, then turn the switch 30° counterclockwise and pull it out of its bracket straight backward. Disconnect the switch's harness wires first. Then you can remove the switch from the cluster. Extend the plunger to the farthest point and put the harness connector into the switch open end for installation. After putting the brake pedal down, pull the switch tab so it lies in the notch on the bracket, insert the pivot point of the switch into the bracket and rotate it clockwise by about 30°. Take off the pressure on the brake pedal and push it all the way towards you; this will move the plunger to the right place because the pedal presses it into the switch body and you can notice a ratcheting sound as it adjusts.
