2006 Jeep Wrangler Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Master Cylinder on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: First, remove the evaporative canister before doing any brake master cylinder service. Remove the brake lines from the brake master cylinder and combination valve, from there unscrew the nuts that anchor the bracket of the valve and remove the valve. After that, unscrew the brake master cylinder mounting nuts and haul out the brake master cylinder, then lift off the cylinder cover to drain out the fluid. After buying a new brake master cylinder, bleed it before installing it. Get rid of the plastic cover from the primary piston shank, look at the condition of the seal at the rear of the cylinder's body and return the seal to its place if it moved or stick in a new seal if it's cut or torn. Attach the brake master cylinder to the brake booster studs and tighten the mounting nuts to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.) using only the original or factory replacement nuts. After that, connect the combination valve to the brake booster studs and screw on the mounting nuts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs). Hand-tighten all brake lines to the brake master cylinder and combination valve, then tighten the brake master cylinder lines to 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.) and the combination valve lines to 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.). Last, fit the evaporative canister and flush the base brake system by bleeding it.
