2006 Jeep Wrangler Brake Booster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Booster on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: The first step to service the power brake booster is to take out the combination valve and master cylinder and afterwards disconnect the vacuum hose from the check valve. After that, remove the clip that holds the booster push rod to the brake pedal, letting the rod fall off the pin. Loosen and remove the nuts holding the booster to the front cowl, pull out the booster studs from the cowl panel and slide out the entire booster from your engine compartment. Take off the dash seal from the booster. Before installing, clean the surface the booster will sit on and place the dash seal on the booster. Set the booster on the front cowl panel first and then put the nuts that secure the booster to the dash panel into the passenger compartment, tightening them loosely so the booster doesn't move. Spread Mopar multi-mileage grease over the brake pedal pin and bushing, insert the booster push rod onto the brake pedal and attach it with the retaining clip. Screw on the booster mounting bolts to 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.), put the vacuum hose on the booster check valve, fit the master cylinder and combination valve and afterwards, add fluid to the master cylinder and remove air from the base brakes.
