2006 Jeep Wrangler Brake Line Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Perform a Double Inverted Flare on a Brake Line on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: To perform brake hose and line service and repairs, a preformed metal brake tube is the recommended option, but double-wall steel tube may be used temporarily during emergencies when factory parts can't be found. Cut away the damaged portion of the tube with the Tubing Cutter and drag a Brake Reamer along the edges to create a proper flare. Put the replacement tube nut onto the tube and then insert the tube into the flaring tool. Fix the gauge form over the tip of the tube and keep pushing the tube through the tool's jaws until it reaches the recessed notch for your tube size. Secure the tool bar on the tube and place the end of the plug from the gauge into the tube. Slide the compression disc over the gauge and place the center of the tapered flaring screw into the opening of the compression disc. Squeeze the handle until the plug gauge rests right on the jaws of the flaring tool to start the inverted flare. After that, pull out the plug gauge and secure the inverted flare.
