2006 Jeep Wrangler Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Fuel Rail on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before removing the fuel rail, let the fuel system pressure down, open the fuel filler tubes' cap and remove the negative battery cable. Take the air duct out of the throttle body, separate the fuel line latch clip from the fuel rail and fuel line with a special tool and remove any required vacuum lines at the throttle body. Remove the coolant from the engine after that, then pull out the thermostat and thermostat housing and then take off the PCV hose and valve from the valve cover. Butt both lower bolts and take away all upper bolts from the upper intake manifold. At the rear of the intake manifold, remove the two engine harness connectors and at the mounting bracket, take off the two injection wiring harness clips. To remove the connector from each fuel injector, push the red slider backward, hold the tab depressed and pull the connector out. Remove the bolts connecting the fuel rail to the engine, push and pull the fuel rail gently until the injectors have cleared and pull the rail off with the injectors still connected. To install, place the fuel injectors first and remember to clean the machined bores in the intake manifold. Grease every fuel injector O-ring with a small amount of oil, place the fuel rail/fuel injector assembly in the machined holes and carefully put each injector into the cylinder head without ripping the rings. Push the fuel rail down until it sits on the injectors and properly install the two fuel rail mounting bolts as directed by torque specs. Conjoin all the terminals at the fuel injectors and snap them in on both sides and then connect both injection wiring harnesses ends into their clips. Attach both main engine harness connectors, tighten five bolts in the intake manifold according to specifications and replace the PCV valve and its hose. Throw in the thermostat and radiator hose, add the prescribed coolant, plug in the vacuum lines to the throttle body and fasten the fuel line and latch clip to the fuel rail. Afterward, join the air duct to the throttle body, reattach the battery cable, start the engine and check for any leaks.
