  • Q: How to Service a Pitman Arm on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
    A: To service the Pitman Arm, remove the cotter pin and nut from the drag link next to the pitman arm and then pull the drag link ball stud free using a puller. Take the nut and washer off of the steering gear shaft, mark where the pitman shaft and pitchman arm should be placed and then use Puller C-4150A to remove the pitman arm from the gear. For installation, put the pitman arm in place on the steering gear shaft, followed by the washer and nut, tuning the nut to 251 Nm (185 ft. lbs.). Connect the drag link ball stud to the pitman arm, hold it in place with a tightened nut-81 Nm (60 ft. lbs.-and then install a new cotter pin.
