2006 Jeep Wrangler Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Power Steering Pump on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before starting on the pump, take off the serpentine drive belt and then free the pressure and return hoses connected to the pump to drain it. Then, open up the engine cover and unbolt both the engine and bracket units from the pump using the pulley holes. Hang the pump below the engine and then take the pulley off the pump. At first, place the pulley on the pump, after that place the pump on the engine mounting bracket and tighten the bolts to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Screw the three mounting bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.), secure the pressure line to the pump and tighten it to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) and finally connect the return hoses. After that, put the drive belt back on and top up the power steering fluid.
