It is important to let the exhaust system cool off before touching the catalytic converter, since its region and the converter itself can heat up quickly as the engine runs. Before you change the catalytic converter, check what is causing the failure since most problems are related to air, fuel or ignition. Detach both connections at the sensor from the engine. Separate the clamp on the intermediate pipe to the catalytic converter without lubricating the muffler or any parts of the exhaust pipe with oil; use a mix of a dish soap-water solution to protect these parts. As required, take out the muffler/intermediate pipe isolators to allow the assembly to slide out from the catalytic converter. Take the electrical connector out of the sensor and then remove the loose bracket's bolts. Unclamp the pre-catalytic converter and remove the whole pre-catalytic converter.
