Pull up the vehicle with a hoist and then apply penetrating oil to the band clamp on the component being taken off. Make sure not to use petroleum-based lubricants on muffler or exhaust pipe isolators; use dish soap and water instead. After that, unscrew the muffler, loosen the band clamp and remove the support isolator and then pull the intermediate pipe from the catalytic converter pipe (2). Angles and mufflers need to be cleaned to make sure all pieces fit together properly and all worn, broken, rusty or used too many times clamps, supports and attaching parts should be removed. Choose original equipment replacements for every part in the exhaust system.
