2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Timing Belt Tensioner Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install a Timing Belt Tensioner and Its Components on 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Place the assembly in position and bolt it to the engine without making it tight. For proper placement, install one of the engine bracket mounting bolts (M10) 5-7 turns in the tensioner assembly's upper mounting location. Tighten the tensioner's lower belt mounting screw to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.) and then remove the upper belt guide bolt. Now, place the rear timing belt cover and fix it in place. Replace the timing belt idler pulley and fasten its mounting bolt with a torque of 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.) You should not tighten camshaft sprocket bolts with an impact wrench to avoid bending the camshaft-to-sprocket dowel pin. To ensure the sprockets are held firmly, use Camshaft Sprocket Holder 6847 before tightening the bolts to specified force. The next step is fitting in the timing belt.
