2007 Dodge Caliber Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Parking Brake Cable on 2007 Dodge Caliber?
A: Before handling the parking brake cable, make sure to unhook and separate the negative battery cable. Stop the tires and wheel assemblies using the parking brake so the vehicle can't roll after stepping on the lever. Take out the console in the center and pull the parking brake lever down. Free up the adjusting nut on the output cable and pull out the parking brake cables from their equals in the cable system. Open the rear seat cushion and fold back the carpet to get to the parking brake cables at the rear floor. Take a 1/2 inch (13 mm) wrench to shrink the spaces on the retainer for the parking brake cable and then take out the entire housing from the bracket. Support the vehicle, take out the mounting nuts for the rear wheel and remove the entire wheel and tire from the vehicle. With the parking brake removed, get the parking brake shoes out and unclip the hair pin tied to the brake support plate. Slide the parking brake cable out of the plate at the back and up the hole in the trailing link. Take out one screw where the cable routing clamp is attached to the body and one nut that joins the clamp to the fuel tank strap. Lastly, unhook the parking brake cable from inside the car with the sealing grommet at the hole in the floor.
