2008 Dodge Caliber Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to install a parking brake cable on 2008 Dodge Caliber?
A: Begin the installation of the parking brake cable by squeezing the cable through the hole in the floor pan so that its sealing grommet sits securely. Fix the cable routing clamp on top of the stud on the fuel tank strap and add the nut. Tie the cable to your body with the cable routing clamp and screw, theninsert the parking brake cable through the trailing link and support plate's hole. Tie the parking brake cable to the brake support plate with a hair pin. After that, replace the parking brake shoes and other components you took off, fit the tire and wheel onto the vehicle and tighten the wheel nut bolts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Stop movement of all the vehicle's wheels by pulling on the parking brake lever and lowering the vehicle. Press the grommet all the way in the floor pan and guide the parking brake cable beneath the carpet to its bracket, securing it. A new parking brake cable equalizer is needed and the integrated bent nail tensioner needs to be stretched to ensure the cables are the correct tension. Take the old equalizer off and connect the new one to the parking brake lever output cable, then attach the rear parking brake cables to the equalizer, so they fit into the cable track well. After you tighten the adjustment nut, pull the parking brake lever down all the way, stretch the equalizer, move the lever up in the fully released position and tighten the adjustment nut until 31 millimeters of thread appear. Once more, pull the lever down to its release position. Lift the vehicle so that the rear wheels are free of the ground and able to turn without catching anything. Set the parking brake to prevent the rear wheels from turning and afterward check that they spin correctly by releasing the brake lever. First, lower the vehicle, attach the center console, take out the blocks from the tires, then reconnect the battery's negative wire on the frame.
