2007 Dodge Caliber Brake Pad Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace Brake Pads on 2007 Dodge Caliber?
A: Before replacing the rear brake pads, check if the howling or moaning when reversing is because of the pads. Start by pushing the caliper piston far back into the piston bore which creates the proper room for installing the caliper on the steering knuckle. The audible wear indicator should go downward on the brake pad, installed with it on the inside of the wheel. Attach the brake pad to the caliper so the retaining clip is aligned correctly with the caliper's depressed spots past the raised bead. Insert the inboard brake pad into the abutment shims attached to the disc brake caliper adapter bracket, making sure not to damage the guide pin boot as you attachment the caliper to the bracket. Drop the disc brake caliper over the brake rotor and caliper adapter's lower end and insert the lower guide pin bolt, tightening it to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.). After you finish installing the outboard brake, look at the brake pad to ensure it sits correctly, the retaining clip is in place and the space between the backing plate and the caliper fingers is very little. After that, fit the wheel and tire onto the hub, hand-tighten the wheel mounting nuts and tighten them with a torque wrench to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.), before dropping the car. Several pumps of the brake pedal will tell you the brake system is ready, after which a quick road test will remove any foreign substances and place the brake pads against the rotor securely.
