2007 Dodge Caravan Brake Booster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Brake Booster on the Dash Panel on 2007 Dodge Caravan?
A: To attach the power brake booster, turn the assembly around so that it fits correctly in place and push the rod through the dash into the booster. Fix the four nuts that hold the booster to the dash with a torque of 29 Nm (250 in. lbs.). Place lubriplate or an alternative on the brake pedal pin at the point it connects to the booster input rod. For the brake pedal pin installation on the power brake booster input rod, use a new retaining clip. Substitute the brake lamp switch with a fresh switch because the original switch cannot be adjusted later. Put the silencer panel underneath the steering column and join the vacuum tube to the check valve of the power brake booster. When you take the master cylinder off the vacuum booster, replace its rear seal with a new one and try not to use sharp objects on the seal surrounding the master cylinder. Apply a new vacuum seal to the master cylinder linkage bracket, put the master cylinder in place on the booster's mounting studs and line up the push rod on the booster with the master cylinder piston. Attach the master cylinder to the booster with the two nuts and make sure the torque reaches 25 Nm (225 in. lbs.). Join the wiring harness connector to the brake fluid level switch in the brake fluid reservoir and link the primary and secondary brake tubes to the ABS ICU or non-ABS match box, tightening both sets of tube nuts to 17 Nm (145 in. lbs.). Put in the wiper module and if your vehicle has speed control, add the speed control servo and wire it up, tightening the nuts with at least 14 Nm (124 in. lbs.) of torque. Connect the battery tray, making sure it is secure with two nuts and one bolt at 14 Nm (124 in. lbs.) and then connect the servo vacuum hose from the battery tray to the vacuum tank if your car has speed control. Set up the air inlet resonator and hoses as one system on the thrlttle body and air cleaner housing, with the connecting hose clamped tightly. Place the engine coolant filler neck on the battery tray, use the screw provided and mount the battery, battery clamp and the mounting nut. Then, place the battery shield for heat guard over the rear battery, bleed the brakes if required and do a test drive to check the brakes.
