2007 Dodge Dakota Ball Joint Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Ball Joint on 2007 Dodge Dakota?
A: Begin with removing the tire and wheel, then the brake caliper and rotor to service the ball joint. After that, loosen and remove the outer tie rod retaining nut on the knuckle and then use puller C-3894-A to detach the tie rod from the steering knuckle. Then, come off the upper ball joint nut and pull apart the upper ball joint from the knuckle with puller 8677 and finally follow that by coming off the lower ball joint nut and removing the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle using the same tool. Once you're done with the steering knuckle, remove the halfshaft to the side and keep it elevated for 4X4 vehicles. Lift out the snap ring from the ball joint flange and cover the threaded portions of the tool with plenty of lubricant to make it last longer and function correctly both in removal and installation. After everything else, push down on the lower control arm ball using tools C-4212-F (PRESS), 8445-3 (Driver) and 9604 (Receiver).
