2007 Dodge Dakota Battery Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair Battery Cables on 2007 Dodge Dakota?
A: The first step in handling the battery cables is to turn the ignition to Off and deactivate all electrical accessories. To work on the negative cable, undo and remove the bolt attaching the negative eyelet (3) to the left front fender; remove the eyelet last. Follow the battery cable route, undo the pushpins, fasteners and other clips, until you can pull it from the vehicle. Raise the vehicle on a hoist, take out the bolt that attaches the negative cable to the engine, separate the negative cable from its connection to the engine harness conduit and then remove the cable from the vehicle. As for the positive cable, also set the ignition to Off with all electrical accessories turned off and then unplug and isolate the battery's negative terminal. Pull out the bolts (3) from the air intake resonator (4) and then release the clamp (2) of the air inlet tube (1) so you can remove the resonator. Detach the battery positive terminal from its clamp (8) and remove the nut (5) holding the cable to the Integrated Power Module (IPM) (7) stud (6). Remove the terminal cap, release the cable nut and disconnect the starter solenoid wire harness from the connector. Then, take out the connecting pushpin from the battery cable on the left frame rail. Raise the vehicle using a hoist, remove the nut (2) attaching the cable (1) to the starter solenoid (3) and then free the battery cable pushpin (6). Lift the vehicle and then take out the car's positive battery cable.
