2008 Dodge Dakota Battery Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install Battery Cables on 2008 Dodge Dakota?
A: For the battery negative cable, fit it into the engine harness, slide the pushpins and fasteners into place and route the cable and attaching clips until all are secured. Then, connect the metal bolt through the negative cable eyelet and install it into the left front fender. Tighten the bolt to 20 Nm. Install the bolt on the engine block that joins the negative battery cable, tighten it to 16.5 Nm. Position the vehicle into its lowest position and then join the battery negative cable terminal clamp, securing the pinch-bolt hex nut at 5 Nm. Put the positive cable into the vehicle and then fasten the nut holding the cable to the stud on the Integrated Power Module, using a torque of 11.5 Nm. Screw the nut onto the connector on the alternator using 14 Nm of torque, then push in the cable pushpin into the left frame rail. Make certain you attach the starter solenoid wire harness and then raise the vehicle on a hoist. After that, install the nut securing the cable, tightening it to 13 Nm. Pull up the engine cover and put the battery cable retaining pushpin into the battery connector on the engine block, position the vehicle for lowered ground clearance and hold on to the battery positive cable terminal clamp until you tighten the hex nut to 5 Nm. Fit the air intake resonator into the car, join the bolts to the resonator and attach the band clamp to the air tube intake. After that, attach the negative battery cable and tighten its pinch-bolt to 5 Nm and then make sure the car is operating smoothly.
