2007 Dodge Dakota Dimmer Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Dimmer Switch on 2007 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before working on the combination switch, you should first disconnect the negative battery cable, wait two minutes and repeat the process after waiting so that the air bag doesn't deploy accidentally. Start by taking out the driver air bag on the steering wheel and unlinking the steering wheel wire harness connectors from the upper Clock Spring connector receptacles. Guarantee that the screws holding the puller are tightly fitted in the steering wheel armature and are not hurting the Clock Spring. Also, take out the steering wheel, unscrew the securing bolt on the steering column knob and pull the knob out of the tilt actuator on the left side of the column. From beneath the steering column, remove the two screws on the sides nearest the upper shroud and inward pressure on each side should remove the upper column shroud from the mounting. Remove the upper shroud from the lower shroud, then unscrew the center screw holding the lower shroud to the steering column and remove the shroud. Open the wiring connector at the back of the multi-function switch housing and take out the two screws that fix the switch to the switch housing. Finally, pull the switch control stalk toward the left as you pull it out from the mounting housing.
