2008 Dodge Dakota Dimmer Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Dimmer Switch on 2008 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before installing the combination switch, turn off the SRS by disconnecting the negative battery cable and removing it from the vehicle to be certain no air bag is accidentally activated for two minutes. Slide the multi-function switch from the left into its mounting housing, with the alignment pins properly hooked into the holes. Set the switch in the mounting housing with two screws; tighten them to 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). After that, reattach the wire harness connector to the back of the switch. Place the lower shroud near the steering column and fix it with one center screw from underneath, until it reaches 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) of torque. Cover the lower shroud with the upper shroud, making sure the gearshift lever gap hider is in place if you have an automatic transmission and then join them by pressing the snap features together. Attach the upper shroud to the sail with two outboard screws that are tightened to 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Link the tilt steering column knob to the tilt adjuster actuator and turn the fastener another 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Index the small rubber boss on the engineered dowel to the gap between the fins on the steering wheel's armature hub when servicing. After that, fit the steering wheel back in, attach the steering wheel wire harness connectors to the upper Clock Spring connector receptacles, route the harness correctly and enclose the driver air bag on the steering wheel. In the end, hook up the negative battery cable.
