  Before you start to service or repair the turn signal switch, first isolate the battery negative cable. If your steering wheel offers tilt, use your finger to unscrew the lever located leftward on the steering column just under the multi-function switch stalk by moving it counterclockwise. Remove both upper and lower shrouds from the steering column and then remove the fixed lower shroud. After you move the shroud of the upper fixed column, get rid of the tamper proof screws that hold the multi-function switch in place with a Snap On tamper proof Torx bit TTXR20B2 or its equivalent. Carefully take the multi-function switch out of the steering column and once it's clear, unfasten the screw anchoring the instrument panel wire harness connector to the multi-function switch connection point. Take out the multi-function switch on the steering column. Attach the multi-function switch directly to the steering column and then hook up the button wire harness to the switch receptacle. Set both screws securing the instrument panel wire harness connector to the multi-function switch connector receptacle to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.), then secure the multi-function switch to the steering column with the same two screws at the same torque. Connect the upper columns' shrouds and the bottom column's shroud to the steering column. If this car has a tilt steering wheel, install the lever onto the left side of the steering column, using a screw. Remember to attach the battery's negative cable when done.

  Disconnect the negative Battery Cable, let the system capacitor discharge for two minutes, then install the combination switch to prevent accidental deployment of the Air Bag. Gently push the multi-function switch into the switch mounting housing on the left, so that the alignment pins are in place. After fixing the switch to the mounting housing with two screws, tighten them to 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) and plug the wire harness connector into the switch's back. Place the lower shroud under the Steering Wheel, add a center screw from below and hand tighten it until it reaches 2 Nm or 20 in. lbs. Put the upper shroud above the lower shroud so that the gearshift lever gap hider is attached, when your car is equipped with an automatic transmission. Attach the higher shroud to the lower shroud and hold them in place with two outboard screws that should be tightened to 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Philip the tilt steering column knob to the tilt adjuster actuator and then tighten the screw to 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). When putting the steering wheel back on, line up the rubber booted yellow engagement dowel on the Clock Spring rotor between the two fins of the steering wheel armature hub. Connect the steering wheel all the way in, reattach the steering wheel's wire harness connectors, route them as needed and set the driver air bag onto the steering wheel before attaching the negative battery cable again.
