2007 Dodge Dakota Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Steering Knuckle on 2007 Dodge Dakota?
A: Start by raising and supporting your car and next remove the wheel and tire assembly. Remove the brake caliper, rotor, shield and ABS wheel speed sensor from the wheel next. For 4X4 vehicles, take out the front halfshaft nut. After removing the tie rod end nut, slide the puller C-3894-A over the tie rod to release it from the knuckle and do not damage the ball joint seal when pulling the ball joint with puller 8677. Loose the upper ball joint nut and then use puller 8677 to disconnect the ball joint from the knuckle. Lift up the lower control arm with a jack, then use a socket and ratchet to remove the lower ball joint nut, followed by puller 8677 to free the ball joint from the knuckle and let you remove it too. After that, unbolt the hub or bearing from the knuckle and pull it out before taking out the steering knuckle at the end.
