2008 Dodge Dakota Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove the Front Steering Knuckle on 2008 Dodge Dakota?
A: First, position the vehicle so it is off the ground, then take the wheel and tire assembly off. After that, disconnect the brake caliper, rotor, shield and ABS wheel speed sensor if fitted. To work on a 4X4 subframe, first take out the front halfshaft nut. After that, remove the tie rod end nut and use puller C-3894-A to split the tie rod from the knuckle. Be sure not to damage the ball joint seal when using puller 8677. Withdraw the upper ball joint nut and use puller 8677 to split up the ball joint from its position on the knuckle. Lift the lower control arm with a jack, then remove the nut from the lower ball joint with a puller. Withpuller 8677, separate the ball joint from the knuckle and remove the knuckle. Once that's done, pop off the bolts holding the hub/bearing in place and remove the hub/bearing from the steering knuckle.
