2007 Dodge Durango Heater Core Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Heater Core in the Rear on 2007 Dodge Durango?
A: Before you install the rear heater core, check that the heater core tubes are still intact and not touched, moved or disconnected to always avoid coolant leaks and risks. As the first step, attach the rear heater core (4) inside the rear HVAC housing (3) so that the insulator is seated correctly. After that, put on the rear heater core retaining bracket (2) and use screw (1) to secure it to the rear HVAC housing, turning until it reaches a tightness of 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.). Next, fit the outer half of the rear heater core and evaporator extension line flange (3) and tighten screws (2) which should all be tightened to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.). Place the foam seal (1) against the rear heater core and evaporator extension line flange, then set in the rear blend door actuator and the housing for the rear climate system. Hook up the negative cable to the battery and only after a new rear heater core has been installed, flush the radiator and refill it with coolant, too. After that, evacuate everything and charge the refrigerant.
