How to Service and Repair a Crankshaft Seal on 2007 Dodge Sprinter 3500?

The main bearing seal of the crankshaft should be serviced by first taking out the transmission. Then, undo the bolts that connect the flex plate to the crankshaft and next remove the flex plate itself. Remove the bolts joining the rear main seal carrier (1) to the engine block and oil pan and then pull out the rear main seal carrier (1) from each of them. It is important to clean away any sealant that got onto your engine block or oil pan.
