2007 Dodge Sprinter 3500 Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Correctly Install an Oil Pan on 2007 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: The sealing areas in the oil pan should be completely clean by removing any gasket material and oil. Kindly change both the oil temperature sensor and the oil level sensor during installation of a new oil pan. Install and tighten all bolts that connect the rear main seal carrier to the oil pan to a torque of 9 Nm/7 ft. lbs. After that, fit the oil pan onto the transmission and tighten the transmission to oil pan bolts and, in addition, the rear main seal carrier bolts. The next step is to tighten the oil pan bolts to 12 Nm (106 lbs.in.) and the transmission to oil pan bolts to 20 Nm (177 in. lbs.). Install the flex plate after that, followed by the transmission. After you're done lowering the car, insert the oil indicator tube and check the oil level in the oil pan by filling it with the required viscosity engine oil. Use the negative battery cable and then start the engine, so that it can warm up. It's best not to start the engine until 15 minutes after draining and filling the oil and before you check the oil, turn the engine off for another 15 minutes so that the oil is in the oil pan. After that, turn off the engine and check for leaks before fitting the skid plate.
