2007 Dodge Sprinter 3500 Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Timing Cover on 2007 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: To start servicing or repairing the timing cover, you should first take out the negative battery cable and get rid of the engine cover. After that, lift off the front engine cover bracket and support the vehicle with raises. Drain the power steering fluid, separate the hose between the pump and cooling fan and then part the hose from the cooling fan and the suspension. Take out the bottom cooling fan module retaining bolts and remove the fan wire connector. Release the power steering line at the connection to the retainer and next remove both the front splash shield and all the bolts from the front oil pan to timing cover. Drop the vehicle and pull out the hoses just below the power steering tank. After that, unbolt the upper hoses that support the fan module, remove the fan assembly, take out the charge air outlet tube and the accessory drive belt. Start by connecting plastic bags on each side of the EGR air control valve to protect the area from soot and remove foam material around the valve. Take away the accessory drive belt idler pulleys as well as the accessory drive belt tensioner. Upend the engine, thread the crankshaft bolt to reach TDC and raise the vehicle thereafter to pull out the starter blank. Attach the special 9102 crankshaft lock, put the vehicle into a lowered position, then remove the vibration damper and pulley, after that the front timing cover seal and lastly, remove the front timing cover bolts and the cover.
