How to Perform a Door Latch Assembly Service and Repair for the Rear Door on 2007 Jeep Commander?

The first step to servicing or repairing the rear door latch is to remove the watershield if it's covering the area. Separate the exterior handle rod from the actuator and also remove the rod attached to the interior handle to the door latch. After that, unplug the door wire harness from the rear door latch. Taking out the torx bolts near the top of the rear door leaves you with the latch and actuator rod assembly. Remove the actuator rods from the actuator if you must.
