2007 Jeep Commander Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Washer Pump on 2007 Jeep Commander?
A: When servicing the windshield washer pump, start by taking out and isolating the vehicle's negative battery cable. Rotate the wheel so the front tires face the curb and then raise and brace the vehicle. Take out the plastic push-in fasteners that link the front area of the left front wheelhouse splash shield to the fender and front fascia. Pull the front part of the splash shield aside to get to the washer pump/motor unit found on the washer reservoir's outboard side. Remove the headlamp and dash wire harness connector from the washer pump motor connector receptacle. Be sure to note the washer's hose positions before you disconnect them, so you can replace them correctly. Remove the front and rear washer hoses from the washer pump's outlet nipples so the washer fluid can be drained into a clean container for holding. By putting your hand at the top of the washer pump/motor housing and applying pressure outwards, you can take the snap post out of the reservoir. After that, hold the lower end of the housing and twist the unit back and forth as far as you can, so the pump inlet nipple comes free from the rubber grommet seal in the reservoir. Next, pull out and throw away the rubber grommet seal that's around the washer pump threaded hole in the reservoir.
