2007 Jeep Commander Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Light Switch on 2007 Jeep Commander?
A: For your safety, the first action before servicing or repairing the brake light switch on a car with air bags is to disconnect the negative cable of the battery and wait two minutes for the capacitor to discharge. The first thing to do is take off the steering column opening cover from the instrument panel. With the brake pedal pushed down, rotate the brake lamp switch housing in a counterclockwise direction 30 degrees until the botches on the switch locking collar are lined up with the keyed hole on the backing plate. Pull the HES wiring straight back from the hole created by the key, release the brake pedal and move the switch away from the bracket to remove it. Also, unplug the wire harness connector from the brake lamp switch.
