2007 Jeep Compass Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Brake Light Switch on 2007 Jeep Compass?
A: Begin by disconnecting and isolating the battery's negative cable, waiting two minutes for the capacitor in the supplemental restraint system to run out and then deactivate the device. On the dash board, find the brake light switch near the brake pedal support bracket and pull front the wire harness retainer from the bracket. Remove the brake lamp switch wire harness take out and connector. Turn the brake lamp switch housing a bit clockwise so the switch locking collar tabs fit into the blade hole in the brake pedal bracket. Then, pull the switch straight out to remove it. Remember that the brake lamp switch self-adjusting switch plunger will not function again if removed; a new switch must be installed if it is taken out of the mounting bracket. Get rid of the brake lamp switch assembly you have taken out.
