2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Liftgate Hinge Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Liftgate Hinge Without Removing the Liftgate on 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: You don't need to take out the liftgate to include a new trunk or liftgate hinge as each hinge can be exchanged separately. Get started by covering the hinge and body areas where they touch with a body sealer before placement. Lift the body so that half the liftgate hinge is aligned with the upper liftgate opening header on the car. Pull the back of the headliner downward near the header to fit and tighten the two nuts (2) and one bolt (3) under the hinge, remembering to tighten the fasteners to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Further, attach the liftgate to the liftgate side of the hinge on the vehicle and push the screws through the hinge, then tighten them to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). After that, add the support struts and remove support from the liftgate. Inspect the operation and alignment of the liftgate and then secure the trim plate to the front part of the upper liftgate opening. Make sure the hinge to body screws are not leaking.
