2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service and Repair a Wiper Motor Without Causing Damage on 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: While servicing or repairing the front wiper motor, do not press against or pry on the plastic drive link bushings-instead, exert pressure only on the metal component around the bushing, because any harm to the bushings requires removing the entire front wiper module. Don't take out the nut holding the crank arm to the wiper motor's output shaft, because if you do so and wind up putting the crank arm on with the wrong index, you'll have to replace the entire wiper motor and crank arm assembly. With large channel-lock pliers, spin the crank arm of the front wiper motor until it's even with the motor armature and make sure the ball stud locates farthest from the motor. After that, place the wiper motor and its crank arm as a single unit onto the front wiper module's motor mount, install and tighten the screws securing the motor to the bracket to a torque of 5.5 Nm or 48 in. lbs. Next, slide the sleeve bushing of the left wiper drive link onto the ball stud at the end of the motor crank arm, use a short 19 millimeter or 3/4 inch socket to assist and press firmly on the bushing with large channel-lock pliers to snap it into place without touching the plastic. Use the same process and installation approach to put the bushing onto the socket of the right wiper drive link. After that, place the front wiper module into the cowl plenum.
