2007 Jeep Wrangler Catalytic Converter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Catalytic Converter on a 3.8L Engine on 2007 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Set the front exhaust pipe and catalytic converter onto the mount at the transmission and connect them to the exhaust manifold flange. Attach the nuts at the front exhaust and catalytic converter to the muffler flange, without tightening them first. The exhaust must maintain at least 25.4 mm (1.0 in.) from any parts of the frame or underbody. Tighten the bolt at the exhaust manifold until you reach 27 Nm (19 in. lbs.) and tighten the nuts at the front exhaust pipe and catalytic converter assembly to the muffler flange until you have 27 Nm (19 ft. lbs.). Put the front pipe onto the exhaust manifold flange, then tighten the clamp to 10 Nm (95 in. lbs.) torque. Join the oxygen sensor electric connectors, take the vehicle down from the lift and start it to search for exhaust leaks, making the adequate repairs. Next, inspect the relationship between the exhaust system and body panels and change what is needed.
