Q: How is a Crankshaft Installed in an Engine on 2007 Jeep Wrangler?
A: To begin installing the crankshaft, put a little engine oil on the crankshaft main bearing halves and then set them in the engine block. After that, fit the crankshaft in the block and install the main bearings. Check the main cap bolts for any signs of stretching; if any are found, change them and touch a straight edge or spread scale to all of the threads. Fasten the main bearing caps and bolts to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) one additional quarter turn, replace the cross bolt and washer and reassemble them. Toss the new cross bolts and washer assemblies to a torque of 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.) Position the connecting rod and bearing caps on the crankshaft, put in the rear oil seal, install the crankshaft sprocket, timing chain and camshaft sprocket. Start by attaching the timing chain cover, oil pick-up tube and oil pan and then begin putting the engine back together for the last time.
