Q: How to Install a Timing Cover on an Engine on 2007 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Take off the crankshaft oil seal at the beginning to make sure the timing cover is properly connected to the oil pump. Both the chain cover and the cylinder need to be cleaned and clear of burrs, so don't use sealer on the gasket. Put the gasket onto the timing cover so that its lower edge goes 0.5 mm past the cover's lower edge. Spin the crankshaft until the oil pump drive flats are straight up and down and set the rotor so that its flat mates with the crankshaft's side. Do this to make certain you have correct placement and avoid damaged components. Set the timing cover in place and keep it secure by fastening timing chain cover bolts, setting M8 bolts to 27 Nm and M10 bolts to 54 Nm. After that, fit the oil pan, crankshaft front oil seal and crankshaft vibration damper onto the engine. Fit the hoses together, set the camshaft position sensor in place, install the A/C compressor, oil level indicator tube, generator, power steering pump and place the accessory drive belt with the idler pulley. Pour engine oil to the proper level in the crankcase, mount the air cleaner housing and hose, fill the cooling system and link the negative battery cable in the end.
