2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser Power Steering Cooler Parts and Q&A
Q: How to install a Power Steering Cooler on Non-Turbocharged on 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: To place the power steering cooler onto a car without a turbo that uses an additional cooler outside, cup the steel fitting on the power steering gear with the inlet hose and push a hose clamp over the nearby end. With a left-hand drive vehicle, match the outlet tube of the cooler to the clamp on the right front of the housing's opening and snap it in position, followed by closing the clamp. Now, put the inlet hose for the cooler (with cooler 2 attached) onto fitting 1 for the steering gear and use the hose clamp to seal it in place. Attach screws 4 to cooler 2 and insert them into the front suspension crossmember 3. Tighten both screws to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.). For right-hand drive, lower the cooler inlet (attached to cooler 2) onto fitting 1 at the steering gear and attach it with a clamp, then attach each screw at cooler 2 to the suspension crossmember with a tightness of 10 Nm. After that, run the fluid return hose 3 over the connector end of the cooler and fasten it with a clamp, making sure it passes over the bead on the cooler tube opening. Drop the vehicle to install steering parts, fill and bleed the system and check it for leaks.
