2008 Chrysler Town & Country Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Brake Master Cylinder on a Right-Hand-Drive on 2008 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: The first thing to do on a right-hand-drive car is bench bleed the brake master cylinder before changing it. Make sure no dirt or cleaner gets into the brake booster by cleaning the section on the back of the brake master cylinder that sits against it. If the mounting flange seal is not new, remove it and then set the new seal into its groove so that it is squared with the flange. Set the brake master cylinder (7) over the six studs on the booster (2) and make sure the booster push rod fits the brake master cylinder piston. Screw the two brake master cylinder nuts (6) closed with a torque specified as 25 Nm (19 ft. lbs.). Be certain that the brake tubes are not touching anything else and have plenty of slack in the flexible areas when you tighten the nuts at the brake master cylinder for the primary and secondary brake tubes. Insert the primary and secondary brake tubes into the brake master cylinder ports, holding them firmly in place to fix the flex section's angle and tighten the tube nuts to 14 Nm (120 in. lbs.). Bind the wiring harness connector (2) to the brake fluid level switch (1) positioned in the reservoir and at last reattach the negative battery cable to the battery post. Before using the car, load the reservoir in the brake master cylinder to the correct amount and ensure the pedal isn't mushy; when it remains soft, bleed the system and check for any leaks. Do a road test to ensure the brake system is working properly.
