2008 Chrysler Town & Country Crankshaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Extract the Crankshaft from an Engine on 2008 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: To get started, lift out the engine and take out the oil pan. Then, detach both the oil pickup tube and the windage tray and next remove the front timing belt cover. Then, remove the timing belt and tensioner and then take off the crankshaft sprocket. Pull the dowel pin out of the crankshaft and take out the oil pump assembly. After that, remove the rear seal retainer on the crankshaft. Instead of stamping the bearing caps with a metal tool, it's better to mark them using a scribe or paint. Carefully remove the connecting rod bearing caps and be sure to note their marks since they do not fit in place of the main bearing caps which should also be removed after marking. Lastly, take the crankshaft out of where it was installed in the cylinder block. Before placing the crankshaft, you need to set the main bearings and install all the connecting rod bearings correctly.
