2008 Chrysler Town & Country Oil Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Change an Oil Filter and Safely Dispose of Used Oil on 2008 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: Change the oil in the engine when the timer tells you to in the Maintenance Schedule. Lingering or repeated exposure to either new or used engine oil can irritate your skin. Exposed skin can be harmed by dirt in engine oil, so wash it with soap and water and never use gasoline, diesel fuel, thinner or solvents to clean up. Ask your dealer or the government where to take your used engine oil for responsible disposal. Before changing the oil, let the engine run to the normal operating temperature, get the vehicle onto level ground and then switch off the motor. Raise your car with a hoist, take off the fill cap for the engine oil and open the hood. Swap the oil pan drain plug out once a suitable pan has been placed under the oil tank which will allow the oil to drain out. If the drain plug screw is loose or stretched or you notice damage, replace the drain plug and gasket. Take out the oil filter, then attach the drain plug to the crankcase, secure it by hand at 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) Replace the oil filter, position the car on the ground and add just the right amount and type of engine oil. Plug the oil cap back in, power on the engine, look for leaks, turn it off and check the level of oil. A high-quality, full-flow disposable oil filter comes with all engines; be sure to use a Mopar(R) filter or an equivalent when changing. Disposing of used engine oil needs to be done correctly as it may be dangerous.
