  A: Service the alternator by first removing the negative battery cable to keep you safe and the electrical system unharmed. Then, take off the drive belt and disconnect the plastic insulator cap from the B+ output terminal. After that, take out the mounting nut at the back of the generator from the B+ terminal and unhook it from the wire. At the back of the generator, push the connector tab and disconnect the field wire. Afterward, take out one bolt that holds the generator vertically at the back and two bolts that hold it horizontally at the front. The last step is to remove the generator from the vehicle.
