2008 Dodge Dakota Starter Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Starter Motor for 3.7L or 4.7L Engines with Different Transmissions on 2008 Dodge Dakota?
A: Install the starter motor for 3.7L or 4.7L engines with a manual transmission by connecting the solenoid wire with a click and pull. Attach the end of the battery cable to the solenoid stud and add the eyelet nut, tightly screwing it in keeping with the required torque. Do not attach the starter motor to the wire harness. After that, put the starter motor on the transmission and add and tighten the lockwasher nut and bolt with the specified torque. Once you've lowered the vehicle, join the negative battery cable. In the case of a 3.7L or 4.7L auto transmission, hook the solenoid wire to the starter motor, lay the battery cable on the solenoid stud and use the eyelet nut to secure the battery cable, making sure the starter motor doesn't hang from the wire harness. Attach the starter motor to the transmission, mount the cooler tube bracket if your car has an automatic and install and tighten both bolts using the correct torque. After that, bring the vehicle back to ground and attach the negative battery cable.
