2009 Dodge Dakota Dimmer Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Dimmer Switch on 2009 Dodge Dakota?
A: To begin work on the multifunction switch, make sure the SRS is disabled by pulling off the negative battery cable, waiting two minutes to ensure the capacitor is out of charge and not connecting the cable again before working. The tilt steering column knob is held on by a screw. Remove this screw and then take it off the tilt actuator that's on the left side of the column. Then, from below where the steering column is, remove the outboard screws that connect the upper column shroud to the lower one. Compress both the top and bottom sides of the upper shroud above the lower shroud's parting point which will release the snap and allow you to remove it. Remove the center screw at the bottom of the shroud and pull off the lower shroud. Release the wire harness connector located at the back of the multi-function housing. Spin the steering wheel so that you can open the multi-function switch mounting housing and remove the screws. Pull the switch control stalk leftward once grasped to remove the switch from the housing.
