2008 Dodge Grand Caravan A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install an A/C Accumulator on 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Always ensure the oil level in the new A/C accumulator is correct, because wrong oil levels might result in problems with the whole A/C system and even damage the compressor. If you discover that the A/C compressor failed, changing the A/C accumulator is required to keep it from happening again. Use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart when you have to replace several A/C components to make sure you add the correct amount of oil. When you're only changing the A/C accumulator, insert 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the chosen replacement oil into the refrigeration system. Refrigerant line O-rings and gaskets should always be changed when taking apart refrigerant lines to prevent leaks. Mount the A/C accumulator in the engine compartment, fixing it to the right front frame rail with bolt 3 so that it is tight to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.). Using new O-ring seals, join the front and rear sections of A/C liquid line 1 and 2 to the A/C accumulator, tighten the bolts to 13.5 Nm (120 in. lbs.). Put together the air cleaner housing and the inlet duct and then attach the negative battery cable. Empty the refrigerant from the system and if replacing the A/C accumulator, add the same type of refrigerant oil called for in the manual. Be sure to charge the refrigerant system when the refrigeration system is installed.
