2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Heater Core Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Heater Core on 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: You should avoid the air bag system during heater core servicing, so first unplug the negative battery cable and wait for about two minutes for it to finish discharging. It is necessary so that air bags are only used if there is a real emergency, to avoid accidents. Do not attempt to remove, loosen or service the heater core tubes, as coolant may leak. The first step is to take out the housing unit and lay it on a workbench. In the next step, take out the A/C expansion valve. A deformed or damaged seal attached to the front of the HVAC housing has to be replaced immediately. Take the foam seal out from the front of the HVAC case. After that, remove the two screws on the driver side of the air housing that hold the heater core cover in place. Turn and tilt the housing cover based on your needs to detach the lock and pull the cover out. A changed or ruined foam seal around the heater core also needs to be replaced. Once the hoses are removed, pull the heater core from the driver side of the air distribution housing.
