2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Brake Disc Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Rear Brake Disc on 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Before you take out and replace the rear brake rotor, ensure to test the brake pads and change them if it's necessary. Remove all dirt and corrosion from the rotor mounting surface of the hub and bearing. Set the rotor onto the hub and bearing. If either the rotor or brake pads are being replaced, the rear caliper piston should be seated so the new parts fit. Turn the piston back inside the bore using Retractor, Special Tool 8807, since doing so is the only safe way to keep the self-adjuster part intact. To place the caliper piston, join a 3/8 in. drive ratchet handle and an extension, insert the extension into Special Tool 8807-1, put Special Tool 8807-2 on the end of the extension and seat the lugs on Special Tool 8807-2 into the caliper piston notches. Feed the 8807-1 screw drive hand-tightly and make sure to not tighten it so gears are not harmed. Turn 8807-2 clockwise with the ratchet until you no longer feel any resistance at the piston end. After that, join the disc brake caliper and adapter bracket with the axle and install them together as an assembly. Use two bolts to secure everything and tighten them to 100 Nm. Attach the parking brake cable routing bracket to the axle and add the screw, tightening it to 6 Nm. Put on the tire and wheel and secure them with the wheel nuts tightened to 135 Nm. Following the lift, give your brakes several pumps, check and change the brake fluid if needed and take the car out for a drive to remove any loose particles on the brakes.
