How to Install Trunk Lid Lift Support on 2008 Dodge Magnum?

Make sure that the ball studs on the liftgate and on the opening trough in the trunk are clean and screwed in and all work properly. The ball studs should be tightened to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Insert the ball socket of the support cylinder into the ball stud on the liftgate opening, push it into place with your hands and you will hear the retainer clip snap. After that, slide the ball socket in the support cylinder onto the ball stud on the liftgate and push the ball socket down until the retainer clip snaps into position. It's important to confirm that all retaining clips on the support cylinder ball socket ends are positioned correctly and then release the service prop or block. Put the liftgate back into position when done.
