2008 Dodge Nitro Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace an Oil Pan on 2008 Dodge Nitro?
A: To replace or remove the engine oil pan on a 4x2 vehicle, first unhook the negative battery cable, put on the engine support fixture and raise the vehicle. Free the front wheel assemblies and, if you have one, the skid plate as well. Before you take out the lower control arm bolts, drain the engine oil and mark their current adjustment cam position. Unhook the LH tie rod, LH lower ball joint and LH strut clevis and after that take out the left front axle. Then, remove the bolts on the front axle brace and the prop shaft and next drain the front axle. Put a transmission jack beneath the front axle and take out the bolts from the axle bracket. Leave the RH axle in place and come off the front differential, the oil cooler line bracket and the engine to transmission stiffening bracket. Install the rear Engine Support 8534 on the top of the fender and line up the slots in the spacers with the fender holes. Then use four M6 X 1.0 X 25 MM flanged cap screws to secure the brackets. Tighten the screws on the sleeves to attach them to the support tube and guarantee that the tube does not fall over. Put the flat washer, thrust bearing, hook and T handle together and then secure the chain to the front stud on your engine using the support fixture's flanged M10 X 1.75 mm nut. Loose the engine mounts, remove the oil pan bolts and carefully take the oil pan off the engine. Avoid pulling or pressing the oil pan off the engine, since the gasket is an important part of the windage tray and won't separate from it. After that, pull the oil pan and windage tray forward and remove both of them.
